I have been slacking on my blogging duties. Things are getting crazy around here.  I have my regular salon clients coming in, I have a part time job downtown, I am going through a divorce which takes up a large part of my mental/emotional energy, and now begins SXSW.  I received a promotion this year. ( I am good at anything I set my mind to) So I am a shift leader- working 80 hours in 6 days- which will earn me a platinum badge.

I intend to enjoy it to the fullest.  This very well could be my last opportunity to enjoy SXSW forever- if I move from Austin due to the divorce ruling, I won't be coming back- so this is it.  I am going to live in the moment and go balls to the wall.  I have spent the better part of the day researching movies that are premiering, bands that are playing, and interactive panels I want to sit in on.  I have laid out my wardrobe.  I have dyed and cut my hair to perfection.  I am not going to let anyone or anything stop me form having the time of my life for the 10 days that are SXSW.  Rob Zombie is gonna be here this year.......you guys know how much I LOVE Rob Zombie.  (have his children kind of love)  I have posted this pic before on my old blog but it is worth repeating!

YUMMY.

I will try my best to keep everyone posted on any art, films, and music I see that is worth checking out!  I don't intend to sleep much.  there is plenty of time to sleep when I am dead, right?

Jason D'Aquino

I am so amazed at these miniature drawings that Jason does on matchbooks, calendar pages, and other old ephemera.  The detail considering how small the drawings are is incredible! Since smoking is being banned in public spaces, matchbooks are becoming obsolete- sadness- I have a compulsion to collect matchbooks.  I used to have bags and bags filled with matchbooks from all over the world.  I would love to come across a matchbook with a mini work of art drawn on it like one of these.  Artists out there- this is a cool idea for a not so typical calling card.......
